When should i purchase my lumber and mels mix
Hello all, just like most of you i fell in love with the SFG method, how awesome right? Well my question is: When should i buy my lumber and Mels mix? Should i do it this month or beginning of next month or later on in April? What a whopper of a snow storm we are having in Maine right now, i couldn't open any of my :xdoors to let my dogs out this morning!! All of our shovels are outside , so we had to use a broom to push the snow out of the doorway!! Got to love/hate winter lol Hope everyone is safe and hopefully warm too!!

Re: When should i purchase my lumber and mels mix
I would start purchasing right now. I don't know what type of setup you have so some of my advice may not be relevant to you.
I would buy the lumber now and try to cut it to the correct lengths. This way it is ready when you are. If possible to build them inside then you could even do that also.
I would start buying the compost, vermiculite and peat. It might take some searching to find all 5 varieties of compost or the vermiculite. I would buy things as I find them so that you are ready as soon as the weather decides to finally cooperate with all of us spring gardeners.
You will most likely need to go to more than one store to purchase everything your first year. That could take an entire day if you wait and try to do it all at once. If you buy everything then you can easily jump outside at the first opportunity to build the boxes and fill with MM.

+1 If you have room to store them, start collecting things now!
Getting it done!
Alright awesome thanks you guys, i am glad you say do it now, because i am worrying if they'll be enough stuff if i wait too long. I do have a place to store it and possibly build my squares too, or at least one of them anyways. I can't seem to find affordable product to make my own mix so i was going to purchase pre-made Mels mix from HD. With shipping and handling i found it to be cheaper this way! I want to mix my own though, but i can't find any place near me that has it. I also don't know exactly where to look but i checked a couple locally nurseries and they didn't carry it. Anyone from Penobscot county Maine know where i can get it cheaper than the cost of 20 bags of pre made, i am all ears!!!
