New to SFG in Western North Carolina
I grew up on a farm but don't have a green thumb. I have installed two 4 x 8 beds and the soil has been mixed. The best I can tell I am located in the 7A, 6B fringe. I am up for any suggestions for what to grow together and when to plant. I want to make it fun for my children and provide some quality food for my family. Let me know if you have any ideas.

DaddyF23, Welcome to the Forum! There are several gardeners in your general area so you should get some planting advice.
Re: New to SFG in Western North Carolina
What do you like to eat? That's what to plant. Tomatoes is almost a given after the weather warms up. Lettuce, snow peas, broccoli starts, cauliflower starts, and radish can go in about 2 weeks before last frost (which should be soon) and will give up the ghost when hot weather kicks in. Collard starts, kale, swiss chard, onions, carrots can all go in about the same time but will survive through the summer. Tomatoes, squash, cukes, bean (pole and/or bush) need much warmer weather and are good to replace the first set.
Do you have the book ALL NEW SQUAREFOOT GARDENING, 1st or 2nd edition. That is your best guideline and has some good when to plant guides.
First thing to determine is when is your last frost. There is a link somewhere on this forum that you plug you zipcode into and it will tell you. I'll have to look around or maybe somebody else has it at hand.
