Re: mels mix in house plants?
I had some left over from making a new batch this year and used it on two new indoor plants. They are doing FANTASTIC. I plan to give them a little fresh compost every 6 months or so and see how it goes - but I expect they'll do great!

I used MM in hanging baskets and they are doing just fine -- growing like weeds. Like Tim, I plan on adding a bit more balanced compost a couple of times a year.

Nursekat: I have used MM on/in my house plants when transplanting to a larger pot and they seem to love the mix. Most of the soil in the U.S. is one to three percent humus. MM is 1/3 so all plants love the stuff.
