Asters
Thanks Marc.Marc Iverson wrote:Daisies are asters.

Seed Savers is really cool. They send good seed freebie gifts, too. I think I ordered two seed packets and got a full seed packet of tomatoes as a freebie. I just like the whole idea of the organization.
I guess Asters won't be keeping away bugs... but perhaps bees, etc will be drawn to them.
Yes, the Seed Savers organization really is wonderful. It's nice to buy from organizations that truly care.

Sanderson, I know you a pretty experienced, so REALLY REALLY don't need help with any of this stuff. I just wanted to share my newbie experiences.
Windmere, I am also a Newbie!! Feb 2013, Joined April!! But I thank you.
No mention of catnip & sage here
I companion planted in containers last year. I planted catnip in some containers and sage & oregano with some of my tomatoes. I pulled off one hornworm and had no other bug issues. I did have some basils as well, but along with either the catnip or the sage. I'm assuming it's more the catnip & sage that made the difference. I also planted sage & rosemary with jalapenos. From what I can remember I had the peppers alone initially and they got eaten so I replanted with the herbs and they thrived.
