What's up with some of these cukes?
I'm loving my garden, a few things aren't doing well, but my cucumbers are looking great. Here's my problem, I planted 2 cucumber plants, and believe they are the same kind (burpless?). I am starting to harvest them and some are light and others dark (like I thought they should be). Do I have 2 different varieties or is there something wrong that some are light and others aren't. The light ones don't start out dark, they are always light... any help is greatly appreciated!

Are the light ones from the same plant as the dark ones? I don't know much about cucumbers but thought I should ask that question so others will have that to go on when they answer.

I honestly don't know. I bought 2 plants, planted them in the same square and they grew them up a trellis. The vines are inter-mingled now and I can't tell. Also, I thought I bought the same kind but now I don't know if I have 2 different varieties.... I was hoping someone on here would be able to help....

With the dark ones they have those lines that go down from the tip. Do the lighter ones have that? Is there a chance some got more sunlight than the others? I do kind of see the lines in the lighter ones and they seem to have the same basic shape and if my vision is not tricking me, it does look like they have similar bumps in them. I'll take whichever ones you don't want! They sure are beautiful!
Here are lots of photos of cucumbers. I didn't see anything conclusive. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=Picture+of+Cucumbers&qpvt=Picture+of+Cucumbers&FORM=IGRE

I thought that was normal with cucumbers. The ones I've seen growing on the ground have had very pale bellies, while the top half facing the sun was a normal green. Could your light ones just have been shaded more?
I think cauliflower and some cabbages or iceberg lettuce have the same sort of thing, right? If they aren't shaded with their own leaves pulled over them, they start to turn green?
