CC - I did a double take of your photo as your squash looks like one of mine.  How do you like vertical growing? Smile

It's fine but squash leaves bite me and leave welts. I try to stay away from them but this ones space is next to 2 aisles that have 3 ft clearance so it's hard to avoid completely with the leaves hanging over the box. If I only had a very small space it would be perfect. Fortunately I have an out of the way squash garden that is better for me, but I had to try it once.

How do you like yours?

CC - I don't have an option but to grow vertically. My back yard is too small for anything to have more than one square foot. I have 2 zucchini and one yellow squash trained vertically. And, yes, they bite me, too. It would be nice if I had room for some 2' x 2' single boxes for summer squash.

I also have 2 cantaloupe plants in a single 1' x 1' x 1' box that are both trained up a fan-shaped trellis and then onto separate horizontal 2" x 4" cross beams of an arbor. I have to use a ladder to hand pollinate them, now. Boy, that's an accident waiting to happen!

rooster. I wanna try 'em! Sounds like something fast. I just want my arch covered lol. Mine is really close to being covered in one area...the beans are almost touching at the top. I was looking up, and there was a big fat GRASSHOPPER sitting up there, so I knocked him off, and the dog was in hot pursuit! Are the seeds hard to find? Thanks for the helpful info.
