Hi! I'm Beth and am new to the Forum and to square foot gardening. We are in Indiana and I have been working on our raised beds. I have 9 or them, most are 4' X 8'. Everything is doing well...almost too well...I have so many pole beans (Kentucky Wonder) and I have made the mistake of thinking they were more like bush beans. They are about 5 or 6 inches tall and I have not staked them yet. I know...."newbie".....This is the first year I have done this and I think I got a little bit overzealous. (To say the least.) I have two big beds of pole beans and one bed of bush beans. We like beans.....

So, any words of wisdom? I was much more reserved with my other veggies but I am planning to can most of my green beans, unless they "do me in" first. They ARE beginning to look a bit ferocious... My kids think that if there is a "zombie Apocalypse" at least we will eat beans. I'm not sure that there might be some zombies hiding in there by the time harvest time comes around...

Thanks!!

Hi Beth and welcome to the forum! Wow you have a huge garden! And you're brand new to this? So much for starting small, eh? Yay for all your beans - I can't see what would be wrong with canning lots and lots of beans!

Howdy Beth! welcome

Nothing wrong with extra beans! I am expanding my allotment of beans this year in hopes of freezing more than I did last year. Post pics when you can. We LOVE pictures!
