Cider Orchard Help Please!
So, next year, we're starting our orchard. We want to make ciders, both sweet and hard, but we also want to make sure we have varieties that are all-purpose and store well. We're going to have a root cellar "some day" (sigh). We are looking at Dabinett, Harrison, Calville Blanc, Esopus Spitzenburg, Northern Spy, and Roxbury Russett. I know that some of these are zone 6 and we are 7 but we are surrounded by mountains in SE OK near Talihina in the Kiamichi Valley. Our elevation at our home is approx 690 ft. Are there any fruit tree afficianados on the forum to help me out? I want to plan now so I do it right then. I'd like at least some to be espalier and we do have a large deer population. Please help!

Kat, the folks at the local Extension Service should be able to help you with this.

Extension Service, check!
Thanks Camp, already on it from that angle. Was hoping some of you master gardeners might have some insight. Ya'll are walking encyclopedias of experience that might never have been published in an extension guide. I always come here first for answers!
