Fall Kale in the Spring? Empty Fall Kale in the Spring?

Is there any chance the kale I planted in September will start producing in April? They seem content with big "trunks" and small leaves. Do I pull them?

You are still getting some pretty cool/cold weather. Spring of 2012 I had several kale and collard plants that started growing harvest size leaves. I put some extra compost on as a top dressing and used them until warm weather caused them to bolt. In the meantime I had put out my new starts and was only without my fresh greens for a short while.
