I am new to SFG after seeing my mom have great success with it in her first year of SFG last year. When we bought our house we had a 'great' fenced in traditional gardening space. We quickly found out that what looked like a 'great' garden space was actually largely a mud hole. I have been so discouraged until finding SFG...we have improved the drainage by installing tile and now have put in raised beds with rock paths.
We have 4 boxes - 2 are 4'x8'x6", 1 is 4'x8'x12" and 1 is 3'x8'x6" (we ran out of room for another 4' box so we went with what we had space for). Got the first one filled yesterday, will fill another tonight and probably the last two next weekend. We are not to our 'last frost' date yet, but will be soon. I'm putting in lettuce, spinach, peas and carrots today to get them going. I can't wait to get everything going...I have so much planned, mostly because it's been a couple of years since I could put in a garden and I miss it so much!
I have two kids - ages 6 and 4. The 6 year old seems like he could care less about mommy's garden, but my 4 year old is fascinated. She's right in there with me. I am so happy - I hope to instill a real love of gardening in her!
Anyway, wanted to say 'hi'! I look forward to talking with you on this forum...I'm sure I will have lots of questions as we go along! Thanks!

Well, hello KIllian! New to SFG in Central IA 396615

Glad you are here. Yes, SFG is much better than mud!

Post pictures when you can and keep us all posted on your progress. I hope you will find the forums, along with the book, as helpful as I have.

Happy Gardening!
