Hey GG,

spent barley from brewing is a good compost material, added good structure and carbon to the soil.

and you can generally get it for free from local microbreweries, they'd be grateful for as much as you can take away !

Have a google for microbreweries in your area and give 'em a call.

We try and stick with the concepts given in the book mentioned in my strap lines so we can all sing off the same song sheet . It's available on Amazon uk .
As you develop you ANSFG beds and start sowing /cropping would you be so kind and take plenty of pictures and post some of them here on site so we can see what you do and how you do it ..
This helps newcomers to see what is possible and also may end up with someone offering you reasoned advice as to how or how not to do something that should also help nyou get going.

If possible start you own home composting for it is at the very heart of what we do . There is a section in the main index and also to the left of the home page to click onto find out ways of doing it that will stand you in good stead if you're not totally au fait with it .
