Need a little help...
At a recent seed exchange, I was able to pick up a couple different types of garlic bulbs (a clump of elephant garlic, and some individual sections of garlic that are about the size of a fingernail), as well as a tuber of Jeruselum Atrichoke.
Does anyone have any tips/directions for my zone (5) for these?

Plant the garlic in the spring as soon as the ground can be worked. Plant the JA tubers outside of the SFG away from everything else, unless you make a dedicated bed for them.

Most garlic is planted in the fall, but you can plant early spring if you already have your garlic.

Oh dear, I would guess they need to grow it first. It's fall planting in the north.cheyannarach wrote: My garlic won't ship from Territorial Seed until September...

That's what I thought, but it will be fun to plant something new that time of year as all of my warm weather crops start to leave me!

There is a Rookie Topic that was written about Jerusalem Artichokes:

Be sure to read through the comments to see more pictures and glean additional info! Also, scroll down to the bottom of page 2 on this thread to see where I learned about them. There's a link to a WiseGeek article and a YouTube video about growing them:

Re: Need a little help...
Gwennifer, thanks for the information...read through the links and it looks like the J. artichoke would be way too big for any space I have available. I'll give it to some friends who have more room.
