Good day all,
Are there any crops that will grow in nearly non existent sunlight? The front of the house faces north and there is so much potential for some eatable arrangements out there.

For those that may or may not remember, I started SFGing this year. I had one heck of a garden going. It was more successful than I could have imagined. After all the work we put into our garden, the expense, etc. and after living in the same home for 7 years we have moved. My wife got a fantastic job offer in the Charlotte area so we had to leave everything behind. We are currently renting a place and do not plan to buy around here for a year or so. I also plan to relocate my beds to our rental home. I have plenty of sun in my back yard and plenty of area to do my gardening. I have a question for the front though.

North facing crops that usually do well providing it is not too wet & cold that I can think of are all the brassicas including the root brassicas , most legumes & leeks can do well so will letttuces and radishes . Your carrots should perform too.

Onions will be dismal so will sun loving strawberry , melons & marrows

A good rule of thumb: if it is a cool season vegetable, or if the plant is being grown for stems or leaves, it can usually tolerate shade.

That of course depends on your climate and if the garden area receives morning or afternoon sun. With our hot, dry summers here in Salt Lake City I have had some success with leafy greens (wild lettuces, radish microgreens). Things that have worked really well have been violets and perilla. Both are great in salad!
