Can These Peas Be Saved?
Since this is my first winter here in Central Oregon and I planted quite late, I'm desperately trying to save my luxurious square of peas. They're in full bloom, and some small pods have already formed.
Here's the problem: nighttime temps are supposed to be in the 20s all week, falling to 20 degrees Friday night! Last night, I covered my SFG with two layers of frost cloth and 6 mm of plastic sheeting. Everything survived nicely.
My question is, even with protection, can anything survive under such cold conditions?

according to eliot coleman, you can keep a lot growing in a pretty cold climate using a double hoop method .

They will survive the way you have them covered. Peas are very cold hardy. Mine survived serveral night temps in the mid 20's during the winter before but I lost them when we hit 16-18 degrees. Keep in mind that they were not covered like yours are!

Be sure to uncover them during the daytime. I believe there will be cell division at 36F but if they actually freeze, time's up.

Whew! Perhaps I'll get a crop yet! Thanks for the helpful advice. Now, I'll have to get some more blankets for myself....

My First year I started too early and ended up keeping my hoop
covers warmer by setting a 5gal bucket of hot water in an empty
square and closing up the hoops. Then when I had a super cold
night I set my small automatic heater in the hoop house on its
lowest setting. That got me through the last late freezes of spring.
