Whooooo hooo The UK seed catalogue companies have finally started issuing the 2012/2013 catalogues ..

I finally found my soft necked garlics in them , before it has all been hard neck varieties.

there appears to be a trend to now only put eighty or so seeds in the packs whereas before there were three hundred or so yet the prices are still 10% or more higher than last year .

Anyone else care to comment on their seed cat's ?

I have recieved a few catalogs but only fall planting ones. I got a lot of seeds from Park Lane last year because there were less seeds per pack but the price also reflected that, rather than your situation. I like less seeds so I can go through them a liitle faster. I am still wondering how long it will take to use a packet of 1500 lettuce seeds latest seed catalogues 601593

Growing 'micro greens' hmmm? Very trendy Very Happy

Actually some of the market garden folk around here do just that. MIx lettuce and radish and beet seeds and plant thickly on flats of basically MM. They snip it at the 2-4 leaf stage and sell it by the pounds in Feb when we are all green hungry. It is the earliest local grown vegys we can get.

okay, in yesterday's Garden-class this Master-gartner (whose hobby is Garlic) told us the best garlic is "Hard-necked Roja". - Obviously clueless re 'garlic', could you explain why you like Soft-necked better? Wink

I can plait it into 3 foot ropes & hang it in the office , kitchen or garage . Whereas the hardneck has to be cut to about 1 " leaving a hard stump & has to be laid on/in a tray / box just a few deep.
