Online Certification Course
Well, Hurricane Isaac is over and now back to regular life. I finally registered for the course even though I already had the DVDs, but this way seemed a little easier for some reason. I'll be using my training to expand my Master Gardener's arsenal. I've been practicing SFG for 3 years(and a member on the forums for about the same), and even though it will be a while before I get a garden up and running again, SFG will have a place in my back yard.
SFG is just a great system for first time veg gardeners, and I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot more first timers simply because of how the economy is shaping up(or not). Since I work for the government, I doubt I'll lose my job any time soon, so I won't be using SFG as a source of income, but rather to teach people for free as a volunteer with Master Gardeners.

I just finished my first online session of the instructor certification course --LOVED IT! It happens to come just at the perfect time as I am beginning my new gardening year today -- we southwest Floridians garden from Sept - May ... so my "winter" is finally over.
This will be my second year gardening, and I have learned alot on my own so far, however, I am so excited to have found this forum! It looks like this year I will not only have the opportunity to share my gardening with online "friends", but be able to sharpen my skills as I soak up all of the SQF wisdom!

Also finished the first class. Unique and very interesting. Teaching quality is Ggrreat! I hope to have a local sfg session at the library soon after certification. It would be gratifying to see people get excited to prepare a spring sf garden but also begin composting their own black gold. Without a national standard for bagged compost quality I would love to be a part of their immediate success in those areas.
