Mosquitoes in Garden

I have a new problem this year; mosquitoes are eating me alive. As soon as I enter the garden, I have them swarming around me.
What safe methods can I use to remove them, or keep them off of me?

I use Off Skintastic, a dab'll do ya. Well actually I spray it into the air and walk through it, it doesn't take much and is an effective repellent.

I go over to my lemon balm patch...pick few leaves. smash them in my hands and then wipe my hands on my arms, neck, face, and legs. I don't have any reaction but always do a test to see before smearing all over!

I didn't know this about lemon balm. That is so interesting! Thanks.

I use Shoo Fly that I got online. It's all herbs and way back when they sold a very concentrated oil in a bottle, but I don't think they have it anymore, only sprays & soaps. I'm babying that bottle since half a drop mixed with my moisturizer is all it takes to deter skeets and greenheads.

Find out where they are breeding! Water in trash, old tires, buckets left out, plugged eave gutters, etc. Find these water sources and eliminated them if possible. If not possible, put mosquito dunks into them. I keep about a quarter of a Mosquito dunk in each rain barrel at all times. If there are larger bodies of water, put mosquito-eating fish into them.

Mosquitoes don't have to be a problem - and I don't like putting stuff on my skin unless it's absolutely necessary. But 2 ounces of water in a soda can may breed the Asian tiger mosquito quite well.

+1, this is what I do for me and the kids and I LOVE the smell! Pollinator also had really good advice to eliminate the breeding grounds!
