Drought about to be announced in the Ottawa Valley - how are you fairing?
The conservation authority is about to announce a level 2 drought in the Ottawa Valley - forest fires in the area - (unusually?) high heat. How are your gardens doing under these conditions?
My three rain barrels are almost dry, and I've had to resort to using the hose on some of my most water thirsty plants. Many of my veggies (that did really well last year) are getting crispy. My lettuce last year actually lasted all summer... didn't make into July this year!!
Oh well - must be better at getting out a couple of times a day to water the gardens under these conditions!

Marie, I can't believe you are going to be in a drought in Canada! You must get good rain to have rain barrels. How much do they hold?
I sure understand the drought. We are having record high temperatures here in Utah also. I am in Salt Lake County. I have been cheering because my plums are starting to ripen. But then a few minutes ago while looking at my tree I realized they are much smaller than they should be and they are ripening much earlier than they should be. From what I remember they should not begin to ripen for 2-4 more weeks. Maybe if I give my tree a very good soaking I can get the plums to grow more that haven't started ripening yet. I don't know if that will work but it's worth a try I guess. Wow this heat is affecting so much! My apricots have been gone for more than a week!
Good luck on your garden and if I haven't told you yet, Welcome to the forum!

droughts are not that uncommon north of the boarder, especially in the prairies, but are in this area...
My rain barrels hold about 25-30 gallons each, and are usually overflowing (or at least, by the time they are close to empty rain fills them again!).
Rained yesterday, and apparently actually hit the ground in some parts of the city... not my neighbourhood though! I felt about 10 drops, then it stopped. Hoping that the storm they are calling for tomorrow actually happens.
Nothing like you are probably dealing with Triciasgarden, but really unusual for us! Hope your plums grow!
