Cherry pepper or tomato? Empty Cherry pepper or tomato?

Post  cheyannarach 7/10/2012, 4:56 pm

Okay, I bought a 4 pack of "cherry peppers" because they looked like a tomato plant and the curiousity got the best of me. I even questioned them at the greenhouse and they insisted it was a pepper... It set fruit and it looks like a tomato, the blooms also look like tomato blooms. They had a whole bunch of them all labled the same so is it a tomato or a cherry pepper?

cherry peppers are peppers. they are sweet, and they are sometimes called pimento.

Maybe I worded that wrong. Have you ever seen a pepper plant that looks like a tomato plant? I think they were mislabeled at the nursery and instead of being a cherry pepper that it is actually a tomato, I just don't know what kind of tomato it is because it was labeled a cherry pepper!

Cherry pepper or tomato? Empty Cherry Pepper or tomatoes

Post  memart1 7/10/2012, 5:23 pm

Back at the end of May I bought a six-pack of tomatoes that had no label. I figured someone had taken the little plant stick out of the tray, but they were bigger than most of the others and looked very healthy. I gave three to my son-in-law and the three I kept seem to be all different. One looks like a cherry type, one might be something like a better boy, and the third is round with a pointed bottom. Your situation takes me back about 60 years to when my grandmother grew "Mangoes". You and I know them as bell peppers. I was about 15 or so when I learned that a mango was a fruit. have you tried one yet? that would be the test. Smile but for the record, peppers have pepper leaves and tomatoes have tomato leaves. perhaps it is a cherry tomato.

No it just got it's first fruit a few days ago, but I like tomatoes better than peppers so the more the merrier! I thought it was weird when I bought it but they insisted it was a pepper, I have the Ihavetoseeformyselfitis, lol!
