green beans not blooming
The weather is so hot this year and I am having problems with my green beans blooming. The plants look good. They are planted in the ground and they are string beans. We are having 102 up to 107 temps this whole week. It is a dry air, at night it gets to around low 70's. Will my green beans get blooms on them when the temp drops back down to low 90's? can anyone out there help me on this one. Ty

Shirleybeth, yes your green beans should flower when the temps drop. While I have only experienced that type of heat a few times, my beans did finally produce. Keep them watered as you normally would and it will pay off. As far as I remember, beans prefer to stay under 95 degrees in order for the flowers to develop, someone else may have more information for you. Good luck!

Are the vining or bush? The vining ones seen to take their sweet time blooming. My bush beans have been blooming, but the pole beans are all the way to top of trellis and saw the first blooms yesterday. I've been watering in the late evening so they can have their water all night since it's so hot.

Re: green beans not blooming
My bush beans seemed they were going to take forever or never bloom but then suddenly about 1 -2 wks ago there were flowers. Yesterday and today all of a sudden I found green beans! It is very hot here also all weekend. I just make sure I keep watering them. Bush beans tend to produce all at once but I believe if you keep picking them they will get more flowers and then beans. As long as they look healthy it will happen.
