Does anyone grow this or ever grew it?

Hubby was told about it on one of his forums.

I'm growing it for the first time in my new box. I spaced them 9 per square I think. So far the sprouts are looking good. What a Face What a Face What a Face

I'm looking forward to eating it. I LOVE the stuff!

Broccoli Rabe Empty 1

Rabe actually gets huge like broccoli. I would do one per square or at most 4. Interesting thing with the rabe I grew was the most delicious part of it was the flowers. Almost a smooth mustard/pepper taste to them.

I also left a lot of the flowers as it was late in the fall that they were flowering for me (planted late) and it seemed like it was the only thing left for the bees. They were all over it as not much else was in bloom. They needed the food more than me so I left them up.

I have three squares of broccoli rabe. I figured on cutting it throughout the season. I'll let one square go without cutting just to see what the differences are.

I like to plant densely, 9 per square, and harvest it young. I find it bolts almost in a day when you get a hot late spring day. I'll then use the square for something else for the summer.
