WHAT IS this green 'worm' eating my leaves
I am finding this green worm thing eating my rutabaga and cabbage and kohlrabi leaves help me identify and destroy this 'critter'
I also am finding these little buggers on the same plants
I think they are the 'babies' of the above. I do NOT want to kill the whole neighborhood just the "BAD" bugs. As a newbe I need all the help I can get .

THAT looks like some kind of cabbage worm. I believe they are the caterpillars from a cabbage moth. I took the advice of many on the forum and used tulle (or row cover). I didn't have mine completely tight on the bed, so I do have to pick a couple off every few days...but not many...pick and squish!
Hopefully others might have more ideas as to how to control them.

Have you been seeing white fluttering butterflys/moths? Those are what they leave behind.

That is a cabbage caterpillar. The moths have already laid the eggs on the plants so the tulle will help against future generations this summer. Bt and hand picking will do in the caterpillers. When you bring the produce into the kitchen soak it in salt water for a while. That will kill any you miss and they will float to the top. Or call them extra protien like I do

Cabbage worm squish squish! I have really loved using the tulle on the new plants. It keeps the adults from laying the eggs on the plants and leading to the new little green destructors.

bt (bacillus thursomethingrother) is useful to eliminate them and it is organic.

cabbage caterpillar...eggs are laid from a little white butterfly...thought the butterflies look cute last year hovering over my cauliflower last year until I found my plants almost defoliated one morning. The eggs and caterpillars hide everywhere...try an organic insecticidal soap...or just plan on daily search and destroy missions.
