Here is a pic of one of my boxes...and garden helper...she just turned two years old yesterday.
Beets
Carrots
Chives
Cilantro and Oregano
Radishes
Tomatoes were planted last night...flat trench method...and it took only a few hours of sunlight this morning for the plants to turn 90 degrees upright...pretty cool.
Here are a few of my boxes...the 4x4's are brand new with mels mix that I have been amending with fish emulsion, extra compost and compost tea with mycorhizae. I also converted the front half of my old 4x8 beds to SFG. The plants in my old soil are doing better than the ones in my first year's mels mix so we'll see how the season progresses.
Bush Green Beans, Peppers, Sugar Baby Watermelon, Eggplant, Cucumbers, and flowers may go in next week. I'll have 21 empty boxes to fill after radishes are picked.

Re: garden pics
Its my front yard...the only strip of sun I get all summer is this strip between the back of curb and my stone retaining wall...I have four giant bur oak trees in the side and back yard. This spring I've already had more people stop in their cars, roll down their windows, and talk about gardening than the previous eight years. People see me out there in early in the morning, at lunch, and in the evenings (I work from home).

Re: garden pics
In the last picture, you can see my neighbor's yard to the left...she passed away last year and the bank is not taking care of her property...so in the evenings I go over and mow a couple of strips at a time to get grass clippings for my compost pile...it's getting too tall for me to do with my mower but I know it doesn't have any herbicides.
I've also been turning my compost pile daily...it gets hot (coffee grounds, grass clippings, chopped leaves from last fall, kitchen scraps, horse and cow manure, and even a few fish I caught about three weeks ago. I put them in the bottom of a cattle mineral tub and filled it with manure...not really any bad smell and I con only recognize a few fins when I turned it this afternoon...the fall garden should be rockin' after all this work.

Very nice looking garden! If that grass next door is getting too long, you could try using a weedeater instead.

Re: garden pics
thanks for the tip but her yard is way too big...I may call the city to see what they can do. Also, I don't own a weedeater as one can see all the grass gowing around the edge of my beds...may need to do it by hand this weekend.

Re: garden pics
Bummer; it's tough for me to see the yard in the photo. If you complain to the city they might be able to get on the bank's case about it, but I'm pretty sure it's the bank's responsibility to see things like that taken care of if the house reverted to them.
