So my girls were pretty excited to learn that toads are good garden workers because we seem to get plenty of them visiting our yard as it is. They're now all set with their little toad abodes to try and turn some of our nomad toads into boarders and were planning to put one at the front of the house and one at the back of the house (the garden boxes are running along the side of the house). I wasn't really sure though, would two toads take up a habitat that close to each other, one in each toad house, and share the slug eating job amongst the boxes or will we have better luck with bringing in a boarder toad if there is no competition? For some reason I thought maybe it was frogs that you would find it small groups, but toads are loners. Thanks!!

I think if they're located at front and back of the house, it should be okay. Read this article: http://www.motherearthnews.com/Organic-Gardening/1983-07-01/Get-Yourself-a-Toad.aspx
