Re: My passion fruit finaly bloomed
I would LOVE to grow passion fruit, I had it in australia.
I think it really needs a warm climate though
So do you expect fruit this year?

Re: My passion fruit finaly bloomed
I hope to post more pics next week. I know some need another vine for cross pollenation but the lable on this one said it did not and I have many carpenders (the bee kind) working in my garden so here's hoping for some fruit this year. They need to be 2 yrs old to fruit and my vine turned 2 this year.

YEA!!!
I was going to ask you about that...I saw your post from last year yesterday.
They are such a wild looking flower. So incredibly intricate.

I don't know if it is true or not but my roomey says they have the greatest number of parts among flowers. They really look other worldly.

Re: My passion fruit finaly bloomed
I agree...they do! And they're gorgeous!
Also "other worldly" are Potato Bugs (jerusalem crickets?). When I saw one, I knew that designers of TV/movie aliens were from CA and used them as models!
WEIRDEST looking thing I've ever seen. ONLY thing that makes the DH swirm!
Another cool one is bird of paradise...the plant looks just like the bird!

Re: My passion fruit finaly bloomed
the birds of paradise are wonderful and soooo tropical was thinking of adding one but not great to attract bees and beneflcials and since my garden is so small I have had to restrain myself.
