A sure sign of spring in SoCal...I found these on Saturday at the garden. I wondered what they were...too big to be overgrown carrots!
Unlike the AV Poppy Preseve, I can get up close with these!

i think they are called Eschlotcia or something like that .... common name Artic Poppy .

I have always called them California Poppy.

The poppies in my front flower bed have started growing. They're probably a month or so away from growing taller and blooming.

California Poppy. Love them. I have seen a lot of poppies this year. I LOVE them, they are so pretty but make terrible cut flowers.

You can say that again. They drop their petals within a day or so after cutting.
