Has Anyone Grown Wheat?
I've thought that this would be a fun crop to do... I have a ginormous backyard (we're on a curve so the front yard is little and the backyard just goes and goes and goes). I grew up in the wheatheart of the country so I have lots of fond memories of seeing fields of wheat and giant mounds of it piled all up and down main street when our harvest was too big for the elevators to keep up with.
I know it will grow around here obviously... but the fact that my yard (and 90% of the yards here) are bermuda, it makes me think that trying to turn a section of my yard into a wheat crop would be a huge undertaking. I can keep bermuda out of my sfg beds, but I would think it would just run rampant in a crop like wheat.
Just kinda thinking out loud and thought I'd see what everyone else thinks. It would be winter wheat, so there's plenty of time to think about it and prepare.

Re: Has Anyone Grown Wheat?
i grew wheat on a small scale once for school project 24x30
lets just say harvesting was easy part.
the steps that had to be followed before you even get to grinding for flour make a very labor intensive crop.
