Hello from southeast Alabama!
I am new to SFG and very excited to see how well my veggies will grow and produce by using this method. The last 2 to 3 years my traditional garden had a rough time! Poor soil and HOT weather were the culprits. I recently planted kale, romaine, onions, spinach, red lettuce, and already eating some of the kale and romaine! I just added tomatoes, collards, strawberries, and planted cucumber and pole bean seeds. A few zinnias, marigolds, zucchini, okra and that should do it for a while! We enjoy green smoothies so I hope to keep the leafy greens going as long as possible and may need to cover some with row cover if/when it gets really hot. Any suggestions or ideas from fellow SFGers from my region will be greatly appreciated!

Realy glad you joined us. I think you will find the ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING method to be a great change for your gardening woes. Mel's Mix is wonderful for growing veggies and also is next to weed free. Nothing is going to change the fact that you have hot weather, but you may be able to discuss helpful hints like shade cloth to protect your veggies with a bit of localized shade.I am new to SFG and very excited to see how well my veggies will grow and produce by using this method.
