I picked Kohlrabi only because I really want to try it! If I had to pick a personality trait, it would be corn also (rationale: strong stalk - backbone, independent - needs no assistance and need to peel back my layers to get to see the real "me" )

Still being new to the forum, I've missed a thing or two. I found out a little late that January was favorite cartoon characters as avatars. My question is, what about this month, February...are we doing a theme or just whatever? Thanks.

Since I hated them while young, but c. 6 lb/$2 on the last day of the farmer's market I couldn't resist! Told myself, since my wife and my mother both like them I'll cook some for them! They both loved them ,

Chayote squash is a curious little vegetable. It’s slightly intimidating with its odd pursed seam along one edge making it look like a cartoonish venus fly trap or the Grinch’s balled up fist. When you peel it, it lets off heavy beads of sweat and gets slippery. The juice dries on your hands making them tighten up like you’ve had a paraffin treatment, no matter how hard you scrub your hands.
