Oooh ..... new new video update
Hey folks,
I've just bought a new digital camera and thought one of my first tasks should be an upload to the SFG crew.... yes you are sooo special. I linked the camera to a new youtube account. The only problem you might have is that i took the video in HD and so it might be best to watch it on youtube itself by clicking the youtube icon bottom right and then waiting for it to load. Depending on your connection it might buffer otherwise. It was a large file so let me know if it takes too long and I'll repost but not in HD.
Hopefully you'll enjoy my update and please feel free to comment and question. I'm open to any suggestions from folks.
Enjoy!!
You might get a kick out of my son gobbling his lettuce like cookie monster !!!

Re: Oooh ..... new new video update
I had no problem watching the video and I need memory added to my computer.
I am really impressed with your gardens, so neat and tidy. We are inundated with bugs this time of year, what are you doing to keep them from eating your leaves? Very, very impressive SFG's!
Your son is a real cutie. Your accent surprised me too, lol.

Wow! You could knock me over with a feather over the lack of any varmint damage! That's just prize winning lettuce you've got there. Any secrets you'd like to share, or is it just luck?

It must be the compost, jazezee.
At least the little guy isn't turning his nose up to veggies.

I've been wondering what you've been up to, now we know! I'm on a slower 1.5Mb DSL connection, and your video downloaded fine. I'm looking forward to seeing how creative you get with the use of your Christmas lights this year.

Awesome video of your garden and your veggie eating son! What kind of camera is it?

Rose,
Kodak EasyShare new edition. 16 Megapixels and HD video. I had the older easyshare version for 5 years but wanted the vid capability. This is a one button online upload. Really is "EasyShare." The thing is about the size of a credit card !!!
Thanks all for the kind words. The boy sure loves his veggies, he's about my biggest garden pest right now .... LOL.
As Kelejan mentioned, it must be the compost. I worked real hard on my pile since the start of this year in Feb and added it to the fall garden. I have not used my own before and I have always had good results with SFG but that Romaine Lettuce is ridiculous. I almost looks fake its so glossy. I have read that compost (amongst many other things) does strengthen the plants immune system. There is plenty of research showing that compost not only feeds well but also gives the plant what it needs to ward off pests and disease. I can't tell for sure as the fall tends to have far less bugs than spring / summer anyway but clearly from the video, you can see that I don't have anything to deal with. I hope I have not jinxed myself but so far, the bugs and diseases are simply non existent.
I'll follow up with another vid in a couple of weeks.

Love the gardens, love the accent, love the cute son. I have romaine planted, too. It's nowhere near as far along as yours, but I sure hope mine looks even half that good!
I look forward to more videos in the future!

Re: Oooh ..... new new video update
Wow, that is a very crisp, sharp video. No problems with buffering here.
I love your garden layout - so nice and neat. I'm amazed at how neat your rows are in your squares. I found the Mel's mix to be so light and fluffy that the seeds floated around a bit when watered/rained on, so I didn't get such pretty rows. And all my broccoli transplants are dog-legged and eaten to pieces by cabbage worms. I'm only just now this week not seeing those cabbage moths - and I already finished harvesting the main heads.
That lettuce box - wow! It does look fake, it's so perfect. I'm very inspired! Thanks for sharing.

Re: Oooh ..... new new video update
Ish,
4 per sq foot. I'm pretty much by the book when it comes to plant spacing. Thanks for the kind words.
Sherryeo......
Thx!
Boffer,
I can't wait to break out the christmas lights again. They were cheap to run and lit up the whole backyard all night. I'll post a video this time and not pics. Its like that moment in the Griswolds when he turns all the lights on !!!!
