The 4th edition of the book is coming right along.  I am part of the review process and have learned so much about the process of putting together a "how to do it" book.  Errors from the 3rd Edition are being corrected, and new information included.

I am asking all of you to think about what helpful hints or answers you would like included.

For the first 3 Editions, 6" lumber was recommended for making the wood frames.  Well, in reality a 6" wide piece of lumber is only 5 1/2", not enough for 6" of Mel's Mix, much less adding some mulch.  So, in the 4th Edition we are recommending 1"x8" or 2" x 8" which will make the frame 7 1/2" deep, enough for MM plus mulch.  Another example is, one can buy the exact volume of ingredients to make the Mel's Mix, but by the time it's in the bed and well-watered, it is less than 6" high.  thinking  The prudent thing is to make a little more MM than calculated to allow for the settling.

I should have thought about asking you earlier in the process, but I didn't.  silly me  I need comments by Thursday or Friday to be able to get them to the editor in a narrative.  Nothing is too trivial to be entertained.

Thank you, Sanderson
