New from NYC and western Sullivan Cty, NY
hello
I am new to this forum but have used Mel's technique since my first garden in about 1984! I recently expanded the fenced-in part of my garden, going from 6 4x4 boxes to 4 4x16 boxes. I also increased up, from 6" to 12" to ease my husband's back. I also have a winter squash bed, about 16x4 that the deer leave alone so is outside of the fence. I have other boxes, some with perennials some with annuals. I love this method. My goal this year is to really expand the seasons to a larger extent than before. I've just put in a second crop of lettuces, arugula, and beets and radishes.
Thanks for all the sharing I know will be coming my way

Re: New from NYC and western Sullivan Cty, NY
to the Forums, nycquilter. You are certainly no newbie to this method of gardening, but I bet you will still find something new and useful to know.
On the other hand, you are more than welcome to give US the information you must have accumulated.

Very glad to have you join us. Hope in your years of SFG experience, you have found and read the ALLNEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING book and have been able to update from amended soil to Mel's Mix. It does make life so much easier.
Deeper boxes to ease your husband's back are great andf allow for longer root vegetables, but have you seen the table tops some of us use? They are a true lifesaver. Check this link>>>TABLE TOPS
Again, we are so glad you joined us, and hope you will share pictures of your many SFG beds.
