Now! what about *restoring* Nutrition... in our soils :) - Page 2 Empty Restoring "soil"

Post  littlejo 7/22/2011, 10:24 pm

LittleGardener,

I just gotta tell ya how I restored my "soil"
I got some boards and made a box, put down weed cloth on top of the "soil" Set the box ontop of weed cloth. fill the box with Mel's mix, plant plants and grow!

I spent 6 yrs amending the soil and pulling weeds, hoeing, pulling weeds, until this time of year, I would have given up and quit gardening for the year.
I improved/restored my "soil" by not using it at all.

Kids love experimenting, & I'm no exception. So we try it; might even succeed beyond our wildest cheers expectations

I am not in your zone and know next to nothing about fruit trees, and berries but I wanted to say hello andNow! what about *restoring* Nutrition... in our soils :) - Page 2 396615 . I was wondering are you composting yet? I am ashamed to say I have not started but I will be worm composting soon. I hope you post pics of your garden. Are you going to plant a fall garden? If so what will you be growing? I will be looking forward to your posts, it is always nice to have new people with new insights joining the forum.

I merely asked the question, IF you had a Discussion about REversing this trend.
That is all.

I think the more we raise our own food and the less we rely on agro business the better off we will all be. Do you have any good ideas on how the people who farm as a business can restore their soil. If they simply amend it with additives I wonder where all the minerals they would be adding would come from. The US will never just let rivers do what mother nature intended and flood. What are your thoughts?

Grandpa loong ago started me on my gardening path, so I've been composting tablescraps forever. - As a 23yr. young kid, with 37yrs.experience Very Happy living really healthy,
misfortune pale struck, & I just got outa the hospital, so Gardening's now in the air. - When I find my way again, and after I learn how to work our Video-camera, I could have some pictures to share.
(Never feel 'shame': a worthless & harmful emotion). Be happy
with all the resources bringing JOY in your life. God meant our 'gardening' to be another FUN-adventure... cheers Enjoy it! & Thanks also for your Welcome Smile
