I don't know how many of you have a Christmas Tree Shoppes near you, but this is one place I can reliably get marked down seeds .. at the begining of the growing season, they are half off the price printed on the packet of seeds.

At the end of the season, they mark them down. They were 75% off their 50% off price the last time I stopped in. I stocked up for next year.. I bought packet after packet of seed for $0.12 to $0.25. This allows me to experiment with things I wouldn't try to grow if the packet cost me $1.75.

I save my seeds from year to year.. some of the kinds they carry don't have a lot of English on them (I think maybe italian??,not sure), others do. However, I actually have had better outcomes from some of their seeds then the more traditional packets I've bought at my local garden supply store. I have the biggest and most productive "courgette".. apparently french for zucchini... that I have ever had in my life. I have grown some kind of red and white stripped bean (sorry, packet in language other than English)... very pretty.

Ok.. here is what the packet says

"FAGIOLO NANO BORLOTTO" Lingua di Fuoco. Both the pod and bean are beautifully red and white

My guess is it is meant to be a dried bean, but I am not sure.

according to babelfish this is the translation from Italian to English:" FAGIOLO BORLOTTO" DWARF; Fire language, considering the color of the bean perhaps it mean fire tongue? Very cool. Wink
