potato - Potato planting question Empty Potato planting question

I have potatos left over from last year that I saved as seed potatos. They have been in a paper bag and have grown a lot of sprouts. Should I cut off the sprouts or leave them on? I'll be planting them in a self watering bin this year.

Not sure if it is the 'right' thing to do, but I usually take them off if they are really long. If they are short, I just leave them on.

I leave them on and bury the potato just deep enough for the top of the sprouts to be visible.
Top off with potting mix as the potato plant grows taller.
