Sorry, but another Potato Question....

In my SFG box #1: 4 x 4 box I am going to grow potatoes in a high rise in my SFG garden which will be 4 squares long across. The remaining squares will have bush green beans, pole beans and peas.

The other 2 boxes will have various vegetables.

I have some questions that I hope someone can answer:

After the potatoes have been harvested in SFG box #1 and cleaned in the fall, can I just take the soil from the high rise and spread it in box #1?

I was planning on rotating all three boxes each year.

Therefore, next spring SFG box #2 will now become the high rise of 4 squares of potatoes. Then also become green beans, etc.

Box #3 will have the veg's box #2 had the prior year. Box #1 will have the veg's that box #3's veg had the prior year (obviously all new seeds, plants)

Does this sound logical?

Sorry, I wasn't ignoring your question in the other thread. I'm pretty casual about rotating, so I can't offer much experience. Your idea sounds logical. But my first thought was: aren't you going to have more than three boxes at this time next year?!

Increasing the number of boxes really messes up plans for rotating and companion planting!

Nope, only the 3 SFG boxes 4x4 each total 16 squares.

Box #1: Trellis for the pole beans & peas
4 squares of potatoes in high rise,
4 squares of bush beans in a row along the side of the high rise
2 squares of pole beans
2 squares of sugar snap pole peas
2 squares of watermelon
1 square of radishes
1 square of carrots

Box #2: Trellis
2 squares cucumbers
2 squares of pumpkin
2 squares of basil
2 squares of carrots
2 squares lettuce

Box #3: Trellis
4-8 squares of 4 tomato plants
2 squares of zucchini
2 square of basil
2 square of lettuce
2 square of carrots

Can you leave the high rise there and rotate root crops into it? Personally, I wouldn't want to spread the potato soil around.

If I leave the high rise there, can I plant potatoes there next year?

Would I then have to put in new MM?

What does everyone do with the leftover soil from the potato high rise?

You can plant potatoes in the same spot up to 4 years in a row though some folks are more comfortable with every 2 years. Some folks even do 7 year rotations. Really it depends on what is going on with your soil and whether or not you have any disease issues.

My potatoes are actually in totes outside of my box, so my soil will stay right where it's at.
