Re: hello from Rising Sun, Indiana
Spankyleatherlips. I am going to call you "Spanky" and just leave the rest of that name alone. No comments. No nothing.
Again Starting out small is a fantastic idea. It is easy to get all excited and start bigger and then get overwhelmed with it all. At least that is the way I do things very often.....not just with gardening. With SFG the greatest amount of work and expense is the start-up. After that it really is so much easier than row gardening.
Thank you for introducing yourself and joining the forum. I am one of the regional hosts, but I am in Canada. Feel free to jump in and ask questions, make comments and best of all, post pics of what you are doing. It is always so much fun to see what others are doing. We tend to be a crazy but friendly bunch. We tend to joke and laugh a lot so feel free to join in and try not to take us too seriously except when it comes to following Mel's methods.

Re: hello from Rising Sun, Indiana
Welcome aboard Spanky! Another newbie here in Mason, OH so we're neighbors! Yes, this forum is very helpful - and patient with us newbies. I wish you the best of luck as you get started.
I am scheduled for a shipment of compost this Friday, and have my peat ready to go, now if I could only get my hands on coarse vermiculite, I'll be ready to go! Were you able to find the coarse grade in the area? If so, where??

Re: hello from Rising Sun, Indiana
Hey there spanky....welcome aboard!! Great to have another Midwesterner here.
That sounds like a pretty cool setup. When you get the chance, shoot us a pic or two. Others around here love to share pictures and we often get ideas from other's creativity.
When you get settled in, poke around the other forums, too....as you likely have. The Midwest forum is designed to get you some more local information regarding plantings and any issues you may be having for the specific time of year. Outside the Box is great for all non-SFG related tomfoolery.
Hope to see more of you around here.

Re: hello from Rising Sun, Indiana
Glad to have ya.
I like the sounds of your set up. Consider this another request for pictures when you are able. You should talk to forum member boffer. He is our resident TT (table top) guru. He does all sort of fun stuff with his and always seems to have a great harvest.
Hope you decided to stick around to post often! We are always willing to answer any question you might have to feel free to ask away.
I'd also recommend that you check out your regional forum as well as all the others. The Midwest forum always has something going on.

Spanky-LOVE those TT's!! Now I'm super jealous. I have to bend down to my ankles to get to my "raised" beds! Lovin' yours!! Very spiffy trellis in the middle too!

Howdy neighbor! I'm in your neck of the woods every month (sort-of) visiting my in-laws in Moores hill. Glad to see your not spending all your time at the "boat" LOL. Your TT's are absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing and best of luck this year.
