Dream Garden Empty Dream Garden

Post  nancy 4/15/2011, 2:44 pm

I thought all morning about my response to this and when I went to post it, I couldn't find the thread, so I am beginning a new one. I hope that's okay because I love the idea!

My dream garden (or my dream for my current garden): a sfg pond in the middle with a waterfall. It would attract a variety of native frogs & lizards. In my butterfly bed, all the perrenials would come back every year and would bloom prolifically. No predators would attack my baby monarchs. I would have a handy man / cabana boy that would do all the heavy lifting, assembly, and mixing of soil. He would put some kind of lovely something between the boxes so no more weeds would grow there. He would also hand me a cold lemonade (or ice-cold beer) when I got down to the garden after work. The boxes would all be symmetrical and form a big square around the pond because I'm funny like that. There would be chairs with footrests and a table on which to set our drinks. There would be a solar radio so I could sit & listen to the Reds play ball while I looked out over my boxes and drank my beverage. There would be a storage shed for tools that would never have to be locked because in this dream garden there are no vandals. Maybe it would even have electricity to make ice (and keep the beer chilled). And the biggest thing of all would be irrigation. I would never have to lug another gallon of water in the trunk of my car again. I would even be willing to deal with a flood every year if I didn't have to be responsible for my own water.

And yes, the cabana boy would be mostly fully dressed. I certainly don't want him dying of skin cancer on me! And this is a family-friendly forum! Cool
