Seed exchange Empty Seed exchange

Post  lisaphoto 3/21/2010, 5:37 pm

I know this forum says seed exchange, but it doesn't look like anyone has posted anything about trading. I would love to exchange seeds. Unfortunately, I only have boring/normal seeds, but I am willing to trade for other seeds. I would love to have some fun plants and herbs. I am in zone 6a.

I just thinking of left over seeds from seed packets, I have a ton left over. My seeds are all very common though, so not sure if anyone would even want them. I was planning on saving them for next year if I didn't exchange them for something else.

yeah, all mine are from Lowe's etc. If someone wants to exchange common seeds I'm down with that. There are so many seeds in some packets, I could never use them all

Here are some links for GREAT seeds!! They will make for SUPER exchanges at the end of the season as well. They support high biodiversity, YAY!

SEEDSAVERS.ORG
RARESEEDS.COM
HEIRLOOMSEEDS.COM
HERITAGEHARVESTSEED.COM

Next season I plan on doing only these types of seeds. After buying plenty of chain store seeds, I did some research and found that we really need to preserve our other species. I also found out that organic seeds can be hybrids. I think there might be a forum on this topic, if not maybe I'll start on. Rolling Eyes

There are so many seeds in a packet!! Has anyone thought about swapping some of there extra instead of just what they save from plants?

Like I just got a short season hot pepper but only started two peppers. I have a whole (small) packet of seed left. As I put the seed packet into the container I wondered if there were any other short season gardeners who might want just a few seeds in exchange for something they might have?

Deborah ....knows it is getting late for starting peppers and just wondering.

If we are going to do this trade, it would be easier to have two separate threads, one for ISO (In seach of) and one for IHA (I have available), or at least divide up the post like that, makes it easier and more stream line Wink

Just an idea.

It would be a good idea to have two threads for wish list and have list. You would link your have list on your wish list post and vice versa. It might be easier to have your want and have on the same post.
