Appropriate to follow up that last post. Greetings to the other side of the world!!

I am just south of Salisbury MD on the glorious Eastern Shore - (tho I am a transplant). I love the fact that it is quiet here, and hate the fact that it is quiet here - LOL.

Last year my neighbor and I got a real late start on a traditional garden and walked away with a handful of cherry tomatos, 3 watermelon and 4 peppers - WOW big yield. I was going through planning a garden large enough to feed 2 families of 10 ppl total and I came up with some ungodly 50x50 monstrosity. Not too bad right??? What the HECK are we gonna do with 64 heads of lettuce at one time???????

Then I found SFGing thanks to a friend that runs her own organic farm and CSA. She doesn't particularly like SFG so she gave me the "cash crop" book. I can tell you I am HOOKED!!! I think I have it down to 2 4x24 areas (we have LONG fairly narrow spot we are working with) I may split it to 4 4x12 tho. Ill post up the plan for review. I am making use of ALOT of companion planting - 2 versions of the 3 sisters, using ground vines with compatible "pole" type crops, etc to make the most out of the room we have.

Glad to meet you all and look forward to learning

Thanks Kim - I actually used to live down New Cut, back in the day. Is it Farmer John's that is there on the corner at 97? Been awhile since I was down that way. I appreciate the welcome

It's Papa John's (like the pizza) a.k.a. Schillinger Farms.

Hello from the other side of the bay bridge - the Eastern Shore of MD 654548 Trish

So glad you joined us. This is a really great group of people who are willing to help you out if you have questions. I hope you get a chance to look over the various threads, because you may find the answers to some of your questions there.

Good luck on your ambitious gardening plans, I am sure you will find that SFG will be better for you than the old row gardening method. With succession planting, you will be able to have enough lettuce or other crops for your families without having an overabundance of one type of produce that would just go to waste.

Again, welcome, and please share your progress as you go. We I love you pictures!
