I blame the Mel's Mix
First and Formost, I'm please to announce that Beauregard will be returning for another season....... and Beauregard would like to officially welcome everyone to the 2011 Gardening Season !!
In additional news, I'm happy to anounce that it's official ...... Mel's Mix will make anything grow better.
Without going into a lot of detail ..... after a lot of unsucessful attempts over 10+ years of trying everything imaginable .... my wife and I are expecting our first child in July 2011.
My appologies for not being on the forums much over the last few weeks, but we didn't "discover" the pregancy until almost 12 weeks (you don't suspect it after your told you can't get pregnant ) & historically we've suffered 2nd trimester losses over the years .
Unfortunately we ran into our same "challenges" on this pregnacy at the 18 week point (my wife had a bout with cancer that required the removal of some necessisary equipment for the child bearing process). Luckily, we had scrambled and gotten all of our duck's in a row in the six weeks. The dreaded event came last Friday (while we were at the high-risk DR .... how lucky is that?), and we had my wife into surgery within 2 hours.
We found out this Wednesday that the surgery was incredibly sucessfull & although my wife will be in bed for the balance of the pregnacy; mama and baby are doing great & we now have our best chance every for a positive outcome and healthy baby.
So although I've becomed hooked on SFG, my pictures/updates and sarcastic/cheezy/bad humor may be a little less frequent in the 2011 season ....... but it's for a good cause.
.... and yes, apparently everything grows better with Mel's Mix ..... even babies (so ladies .... I'd suggest wearing gloves while putting MM in your SFG box ...ya-never-know...LOL)

CONGRATS, and best wishes. I would advise lots of books, magazines, crossword puzzles, what ever your wife enjoys, to keep her mind busy so she can rest easy and not be too anxious while awaiting the arrival of your bundle of joy-and adventure.
Re: I blame the Mel's Mix
That is the greatest news I've heard in a long time. Congratulations! Makes up for the fact that your response to one of my post means I'm having to redo my tabletops. And I would do it twice over to get that kind of news,

Got tears (of joy) in my eyes. Congrats.
And I'll heed the warning about MM and gloves.
And I'll heed the warning about MM and gloves.
I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Acara,
Congratulations to you and your better half.
I, too, suggest lots of books and magazines, especially the gardening kind so she can advise and join in with you with your 2011 garden.
Such happy news!

Best of luck to you, and one incredible story. I admire the fortitudes in people like you that have had struggles with starting families. I have my fingers crossed that this will be everything you've anticipated, expected, and prayed for over the years. May all your future tears be tears of joy!
I've grown to know your sarcasm in the short time I've been around here, and must admit your posts are very welcome. So, anytime you can pop in, it will be appreciated.
Happy trails, sir, until we meet again.

Ouch ... sorry for the bad news on the TT's.... I should probably soften my delivery of "bad news" on stuff like that.
I do design, application and loading engineering as part of my job ... so "no, that won't work" and "if you do that, someones gonna get hurt, or we're gonna get sued", come out of my mouth 20+ times a day at work. Very easy to forget to "flip-the-switch" on the forums & give a better answer than "no", "wont work", or "the math doesn't support your design" .
Easy for me to forget that not everyone is in the design-phase of some of their garden projects & no matter how helpful the advice from the peeps on the forum is intended .... sometimes its "bad news" and requires a lot of extra work.
Just smack me next time I do that

Babies are GREAT! Congratulations!!
sleeping babies are very happy to let you goof around on the computer as they nap on your lap, so I don't think you'll run away too far!!

LOL .... mama has wanted-for-nothing since going on bedrest ...... but I may be starting to get on her nerves with all the "butler service"
But my cooking & cleaning is good, so she may let me live ....... at least until tomato season is over

Get ready for some pretty unusual requests from mama, keep plenty of ice cream in the freezer, oh and chocolate on hand too.

Re: I blame the Mel's Mix
Congratulations!!!!!!!from the bottom of my heart. I have also been there and done that. Except I did had a child after marriage but took 10 years to have another and never able to have another after that. I wasn't suppose to be able to have my second child, so he is my miracle baby. I completely understand your excitement. God Bless.
