Growing Artichokes in Zone 5a
A little birdie mentioned to me the other day that it may be possible for me to grow artichokes here in zone 5a. My little ears perked up at that thought! I love artichokes and it would be really neat to grow them myself. Needless to say I have been doing some research ever since. I came across this article from Bonnie Plants that has some great information on growing artichokes in general, but also has some tips on growing them in Zone 5. I hope it's helpful to other gardeners in my zone.

Wow, their technique for overwintering in colder climates sounds doable. Fortunately, I am in a much warmer zone, so artichokes tend to grow as perrenials here.
Hope you try them.

That's what made me post the link. The way they explain how to overwinter them really got me thinking and I just had to share.
I'm definitely going to try them. Just waiting for some seeds!

Do not let me forget to send you seeds. Stay on me. I have an insane week this week with boy scouts and girl scouts so if I don't tell you I sent them by week end you HAVE to help me remember.
