planting potates on St. Patricks Day
Being of Irish descent, and a traditionalist, I'll be planting my potatoes today, on St. Patrick's Day!
Potatoes have a reputation for hardiness, which is why most gardeners plant them far too early. Hard frost kills potato foliage, so consider no sooner than two weeks before you expect the last frost, I plan to just cover mine with my mini SFG greenhouse if we should be expecting a frost.
I'm a zone 6 "Irish", so I'm planting mine today, wish me luck!
How about the rest of you, will you be planting your potatoes today?
Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all!![planting potates on St. Patricks Day Anishamrock](https://2img.net/h/i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp259/flowerfriend/smilies/anishamrock.gif)

Re: planting potates on St. Patricks Day
Luck!
My husband is Scottish, no potatoes today. Actually I am not giving space to spuds this season. They are still easy to find at the market. But I have my plans and they will go in March 17 (then I will sleep the 18th as the story goes)

Re: planting potates on St. Patricks Day
In Zone 8 (Dallas, Texas) spuds go in the ground Valentine's Day - President's Day. Our last frost date is typically March 16. As of this morning all the ones I've planted have sprouted except for the red variety.
