I have been forgiven and my garden is growing again...
I discovered over the weekend that I had been watering my poor little garden with soft water, no wonder everything was stunted. Since we have had hot, dry weather over the last 4 days I've needed to water every day and been using irrigation water. In just those four days my garden seems to have recovered and is now growing again. This morning I FINALLY have my first little green tomatoes.
Plant 1 first little green tomatoes.
Plant 2 first little green tomatoes.
One of eight pepper plants showing new growth, is that a bud coming in the middle?
Squash box at 16 days from planting seeds and transplants.
Looks like the broccoli and cauliflower are going to make it after all.
Salsa box at 23 days from planting seeds and transplants.
Warning: DON'T USE SOFT WATER TO WATER YOUR PLANTS.

I love your long skinny boxes and rocks for decor! What's your plan for the squash as far as trellising? or are they bush type?

I don't believe any of my vine plants (pumpkins, zucchini, cucumbers, spaghetti squash) are bush types, I guess I don't know for sure. My husband has been brushing up on his hobby welding to put together trellis's. He brought home a pile of unwanted cubical frames from work to start with for the watermelons, zucchini and what not. All my pumpkins are giants (having a biggest pumpkin contest with all my sisters) so I'm thinking I will just let them grow on the upper part above the retaining wall so as not to break off the vine if they get really big (keeping my fingers crossed). If I ever get a little something in my garden budget I would like the pig fencing arbors I saw in someones photos here in the forum. That might have to wait til next year.
I have some small rocks I am going to eventually use in the walk ways between my boxes, and I have tons more boulder size rocks to work with as well. I have also been thinking of ideas for my garden signs (forum thread 'What's your sign' has me thinking). So slowly but surely my garden will start taking on some more decor type stuff.
