Garden Not Growing

My garden is just not growing very well. Tomatoes, peppers, corn, squash, etc. The leaves are kinda yellow. No pest problems. I did have some aphids once but sprayed with pepper/garlic spray.The cucumbers have been in a month and still look like seedlings.The potatoes are growing great. I used several kinds of compost in my Mel's mix including manure, cotton bowl and worm castings. PH meter shows neutral (7). I use lake water to water plants. Wife took extra plants and put them in the ground with Miracle Grow potting soil and they are growing like mad. She wants me to water with miracle grow but I am resisting.
Any ideas? Sad

I don't think there is any shame in using a little fertilizer...

Which other composts did you use? Did any of them contain peat moss? If so, you may have too much peat moss in your mix.

Another possibility: Did you thoroughly wet down your Mel's Mix? If not, your plants may be parched for water.

I wouldn't use Miracle Gro.

Instead, you might consider top-dressing your garden with a five-way blend of compost, or use some fish emulsion or other organic fertilizer.

Yellow indicates a probable nitrogen deficiency. My advice: Top dress with a quality compost and water well. I usually topdress with one to two inches of compost, works like a charm. When the growing season is done the compost gets incorporated into the bed.
