Garden Ollas Empty Garden Ollas

Post  NanaBoggs 6/8/2010, 4:10 pm

Hi All,
I am new to square foot gardening. I got a late start this year because I had to build a fence to keep the javelina out before I could plant. That was a big job, but now I have everything going. Keeping everything watered is the big challenge I am facing at this time. Has anyone used garden ollas to assist with watering? I need to know how big to make them and how close to space them. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give!

How interesting! I'd love to try this in my yet-to-be-filled 4 x 4 bed. I googled and came up with these instructions:

Right now I am using the good old milk jug trick. I am making my own ollas, as they are too pricey for me to purchase. I was away for a week, and the garden survived so I must be doing some things right.
