What would you guess the rebar and conduit costs for one 4x6 vertical support like in Chap. 8 of ANSFG? Thanks! (I already have the netting)

The conduit should be around $2 for an 8 foot section, the two connectors were about $3 each at Home Depot. I didn't buy rebar, so I can't help you there.

My rebar was about $2.00 for a four foot 3/8" piece at Home Depot... and the conduit there comes in 10' lengths, also about $2.00.

I got at 20ft piece of rebar for $7 at a local lumber yard. They where happy to cut it to any length I needed. The trellis is by far cheaper than the boxes and dirt.

The corner pieces I paid $5 a piece for. The netting was $3. Three 10" lengths of conduit was $2 each, so $6. And the Rebar I paid $2 for 2 pieces each 2' long. I figured 1 foot in the fround and 1 foot above the ground in the conduit. I bought 1/2 inch rebar and 1/2 inch conduit. Smile So total I spent approx $25 for 1 trellis. However, I just made mine 5 feet tall by cutting the conduit exactly in half. and then we cut the top piece to fit exactly after the rebar and conduit for the height was in place. In the future I will see about a bender...it would have saved me $20 in corner pieces as I did 2 trellises.

I borrowed a bender and used what I had on hand for netting/ wiring. So for 4 trellises 4' wide and 6' high, I spent:

$4.88 rebar -- cut into 10 2' pieces
$14.24 conduit (8 pieces @ $1.78)
$1.88 connectors (5 in a pack)
---------
$21.00 / 4 = $5.25 each

I bought this stuff in the garden center of Home Depot. It was by the bamboo stakes and other plant supports.

$2 per 10' metal conduit, $5.00 per elbow connector, $4 per U stake (I cannot use rebar, i have my garden on ledge) $1.50 for twine to make netting. So my 5' pea trellis was about $22, my 10' pole bean trellis was about $24. Shocked They are both quite sturdy!

Me too! I was thrilled to find it so affordable! The package was all dusty and faded like it had been there for over a decade.

I have to chime in on this thread...
I made my trellis frames from 2"x2" wood. I bought it in bulk from a lumber yard in a rural area. They are super sturdy. I can hang from the frames.

I wish I had kept a record of what I spent, but I think it was $120 for enough wood to do two 4x24 boxes and the trellis frames as well. My frames are held up with fence t-posts. See below photo.
