Companion planting
Hello from North Idaho. I've had conflicting information on planting jalapeños near tomatoes. I have seedlings that will go in a "greenhouse" bed and I wanted to put the hotties in there together. Thoughts?

Re: Companion planting
Companion planting is not an issue of concern with square foot gardening, so not a lot of time is spent on evaluating it. That being said, tomatoes and peppers are both members of the nightshade family and play very well together. In fact, the same Tomato Hornworm will feed on either the tomato plant or the pepper plant.
"In short, the soil food web feeds everything you eat and helps keep your favorite planet from getting too hot. Be nice to it." ~ Diane Miessler, "Grow Your Soil"

Re: Companion planting
Scrabb, What OhioGardener wrote. Companion planting is not a big deal with SFG. We feed our plants with compost and replenish the compost each growing season.
I plant tomatoes, peppers and eggplants in the same beds. The only time it becomes a problem is if there is suddenly a soil borne disease that effects that family, then none of them can be planted in that bed.
