Common Plant Pests & Organic Control Options
High Mowing Organic Seeds has an excellent article on identifying insect pests, and how to organically control them.

Re: Common Plant Pests & Organic Control Options
I've been reluctant to use anything more than Dr Bronner's Liquid Peppermint Soap, Sluggo PLUS and Neem oil solution. But this winter and summer I used horticultural oil on the dormant fruit trees and roses for hard scale, and insecticidal soap and spinosad on the garden. Life savers for the type of insects I get and with the hot dry summer. Hard scale, aphids, spider mites, white flies, earwigs, and leaf-footed bugs. The pepper bed was infested with mealy bugs (waxy scale) last July and I used a rubbing alcohol solution in July in desperation. It worked!
