Used Mel’s Mix in three beds. Plots started out strong (tomatoes, pole beans, peppers, etc.) but plants started to experience stunted growth and very little to no fruit production. Watering was on a regular schedule and sunlight was adequate. Any insights?

Tell us about your compost -- did you make it, put it together from commercial sources, or ???Bigeaux wrote:Used Mel’s Mix in three beds. Bigeaux, First, welcome to the Forum from California.
We are here to help trouble shoot. The most common cause of trouble with new Mel's Mix is how it was made. Did you fluff the dry peat moss before measuring? Did you use real composts without any fillers like peat moss? What were the exact composts that you used? Did you thoroughly, thoroughly wet the MM?
You are not the first one to have trouble with new MM and it's usually how it's made. Ask me how I know.
